The airPointe real-time location platform is a comprehensive system that is comprised of ID-Tags, wall mounted receivers, an application server and a suite of web-based software applications. When deployed in an active healthcare environment, the system provides a very powerful solution to track, monitor, locate and manage both high-value equipment and human assets.
Advanced software applications continuously crunch the location data that is collected and drive intelligent solutions specifically developed by Radianse for healthcare to deliver a whole new level of visibility. These empowerment tools help optimize business processes, enhance patient throughput, reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
Radianse has several special patented algorithms that calculate real-time location. The Radianse Smart Sense technology applies context algorithms to create innovative situational awareness (who or what is where, and when).
Radianse researched and tested an array of technologies before choosing to calculate location based on an RF signal transmitted at 433 MHz, a UHF frequency set aside by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). This frequency has excellent body worn and indoor transmission properties and has proven to be interference-free, making it the right choice for complex healthcare environments.
Location data is easily shared with existing databases and applications through standard web interfaces, ODBC, SMS, and XML.

Radianse Smart Sense provides an unbiased and accurate way to measure patient/provider interactions. That information can be used as the basis for alerts, which a hospital can define based on its specific needs.
Radianse Smart Sense can be programmed to recognize a variety of conditions that consider identity, time, location and context. These include but are not limited to:
- A person or device leaves or enters a room or area
- Defined combinations of patients/staff/equipment coming together in a specified location for a defined period of time
- A button push on a Radianse tag on a patient, staff member or device can be programmed to initiate a hospital-defined action:
- Repair request
- Available for preventive maintenance
- Transport call
- Admission to unit
- Antibiotic administered
